e-PoS (Electronic Point of Sale)

Food & Civil Supplies Department

The ePoS (Electronic Point of Sale) System is a statewide digital transformation initiative of the Department of Food & Civil Supplies, Government of Uttar Pradesh, designed to automate and modernize the Public Distribution System (PDS) and ensure transparent delivery of subsidized food grains to eligible beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013.

The system enables the automation of Fair Price Shops through ePoS devices integrated with electronic weighing scales, digitizing the end-to-end food grain distribution process. It authenticates beneficiaries, verifies entitlements, records transactions digitally, and enables real-time monitoring of ration distribution, ensuring that the right beneficiary receives the right entitlement at the right price.

The digital ecosystem has strengthened beneficiary authentication, reduced duplicate and fraudulent records, and improved transparency and accountability across the PDS. Advanced analytics support the identification of duplicate beneficiaries, inactive ration cards, non-transactional cards, abnormal beneficiary patterns, and ineligible beneficiaries.

The system is further supported by eKYC, real-time monitoring, grievance redressal, route optimization, single-stage delivery, and improved vehicle utilization, enabling more efficient food grain transportation and distribution. These interventions have transformed Uttar Pradesh's PDS into a more transparent, efficient, data-driven, and citizen-centric food security delivery system.
